We failed to produce a single sport's thread in 2014. Maybe I'll add some different sub forums for this year. Meanwhile I'm keeping the Christmas theme until Mrs Fly returns.

Here I am! Maybe we could do the darts. I caught a bit of it today while I was ironing. I like darts. Captain Fly said that an inordinate amount of beer was reported to have been drunk at the tournament just gone by.

How about stretching the Xmas theme to February 2nd? After all, it is quite dismal outside and we need some things to look cheery.

I will report from the World Indoor Bowls which starts from tomorrow for 2 weeks. My pal Katherine Rednall will be defending her title in the women's singles.

Yes, all right, I like bowls too. If you can round up Ian Schubach the four of us can go out together to a tea and cakes' shop.

I will email Mr Schubach in the morning. Bear in mind it may take him 48 hours to travel over from Australia. pirat

Yes it's a long shot, I'll grant you, but as anyone else I'd like to invite is on Mars he's the least distance to travel. Still, it's great that Sport 2014 has taken off at last! (We might even make a few quid predicting the outcomes of events).

A young bowler playing in the singles this morning was from Moonfleet. Now I thought that was a book - sure we read that at school. Maybe he was a fictional character stepping off the page and into the world of bowls.

And one of the people commenting in chat on the game this afternoon, going by her Youtube profile, appears to be a satanist from Ipswich. I suppose there's no reason why satanists shouldn't enjoy indoor bowls, but it's a slightly odd combination. Very Happy

I watched the darts but something happened that I didn't see the end or even find out who won. It's been a bit manic here over the last few days and I've hardly had the use of my left arm. The guy I thought would do well did get to the final. That much I do know.

A great final indeed H, one of the best I've ever seen. Won by the Scot Gary Anderson.

That guy is a very nice fella, Jim. I like Wolfie too, but I'm glad he won so as he could get his tractor! In recent years, Ted Hankie's been the guy for me. He was amazing a few years back.

She won yesterday! She plays her next match on Wednesday and then the final the next day if she gets through. (Lost in the opening round of the pairs event though).

She even has a video profile on the BBC website:

She's sweet. Very unsophisticated. I like that in young women.

All the players I was supporting in the bowls lost today. Should've stayed out in the sun instead. Rolling Eyes

I watched it today when I was ironing. Tell me this: the banter between the Northern Irish guy and the Welsh guy commentating, is it good-humoured?
